Review: The Power of the Word
Last week we studied the name of Jesus. Phil 2:9-10 says, “God hath given Him a
name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of
things in heaven, things in earth and things under the earth.” The name of Jesus is
the most powerful name in the universe! And God gives us the ability to use His name
when we are born into His Kingdom! However, Psalm 138:2 says, “I will worship
toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth:
for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” The Word is the final authority
on any situation. It can never be broken and will never fail. Jesus said in John 10:35,
“The scripture cannot be broken.”
If God said it, you can believe it. That settles it! Feelings are a thing of the past when
you are born again. When you are born again, you are not moved by feelings. We are
in a family of faith. We don’t walk by the things we see in the physical. We walk by
faith, and the source of faith is the Word of God. When we act on the Word in faith,
God is committed to performing His Word. If you are still governed by your feelings
and emotions, you need to feed on the Word of God more. A faithless Christian is a
Wordless Christian. You are starving your spirit when you don’t feed on the Word
every day.
Isaiah 55:10-11 says, “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and
returneth not thither, but watereth the earth and, maketh it bring forth and bud, that it
may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth
forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that
which I please, and it shall prosper whereto I sent it.” This is saying the Word of God
will give you bread to eat. It will give you all of the provision you need. The Word of
God is also seed that you can plant. You must get this. This is very important! Every
seed multiplies and brings forth exactly what was planted. If you plant a corn seed,
the corn seed has enough power in it to grow and multiply more corn. The Word of
God acts in the very same way. If you want your finances to multiply, you need to plant
the Word of God in your heart. You need to start meditating scriptures like 2 Cor
9:6,8, “He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth
bountifully shall reap also bountifully. And God is able to make all grace abound
toward you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every
good work.” When that seed is planted abundantly in your heart, you will see the seed
begin to multiply. You will always have enough to abound to every good work. The
Word will never fail.
You can have victory in every situation in life by following this simple formula.
1. Read the Word. Ask the Holy Spirit to “open your eyes of understanding”
when you read the Word of God.
2. Believe the Word. Consume the Word of God until it consumes you. The
Word of God becomes real to you. You now believe in your heart.
3. Act on the Word of God. When you act on the Word of God, God is
committed to perform it. “Scripture cannot be broken!”
If you desire to change what is happening in your life, you need to plant different
seeds. If you are tired of getting beans in your harvest, stop planting beans! If you
desire a different crop in life, start planting different seeds. If you desire joy, start
meditating scriptures of joy. If you desire peace, start meditating scriptures dealing
with peace. If you desire success in your business or career, start meditating
scriptures like Deuteronomy 28. God says “the blessings of the Lord will overtake
you.” The more you meditate that scripture, you will begin to see the blessings of the
Lord in everything you set your hand to. It will literally overtake you! The Word of God
is seed. It is free and available for you to plant. Plant it abundantly and it will multiply
abundantly in your life! Praise God!
Prayer 1: 3 Minutes
Lord, we receive grace to spend time in your Word every day. 2 Cor 3:18 says, “But we
all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the
same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” We are going to
thank God that every time we read the Word, we move to the next level of glory in our
lives.
Prayer 2: 3 Minutes:
We will be praying for a harvest of souls this week.
Ask the Lord of the Harvest to whistle to all his sheep in Lagos, Oakland, Colorado
Springs, and every fellowship around the country. Ask the Holy Spirit to drive them
into church and into every fellowship with His irresistible wind. We will also be praying
for the Holy Spirit to convict them of their sins, so they will be saved, and Christ will be
formed and complete in all of the people present.
Prayer 3: 3 minutes
We are going to thank God for all past signs and wonders, and that signs and wonders
will erupt this week in all of the services and fellowships. Pray for miracles that will
gather unbelieving crowds into church.
Prayer 4: 3 Minutes
We are going to thank God for His servant, Bishop Oyedepo, and everyone who serves
in the body of Christ. Pray that the Word of God will flow freely and be glorified in
every service and fellowship. Pray that all the ministers will speak with flames of fire.
Offering: 5 minutes (Share one scripture and then take the offering.)
Announcements:
We will have foundation class this Sunday at 9am. The church services are streamed
live at freedomministries.org at 10am MST.
Share the goodness together.
Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I
will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Amen
Ask anyone who has specific prayer requests to stay, and pray with them in
prayers of agreement.
