Review: Faith – All of Jesus, None of Us

Hebrews 11:1 is the famous faith verse that most believers know.  It says, “Now faith is the substance (or title deed) of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  The Old Testament contained shadows of good things to come, but faith is the real thing.  Because of Jesus, we are now joint-heirs with Him.  We have the title deed of all of the good things promised in the Old Testament.  We don’t need to work up our faith until we get the title deed.  Believers need to start from the position of already having the title deed as their inheritance. Many believers are praying, fasting and striving to prosper, get healed and muster up enough self-discipline to be a “good Christian.”  The days of striving to please God and earn our inheritance are over.  We can enter into God’s rest and simply believe we have everything already as our possession.  That is faith.

Galatians 5:6 tells us, “For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.”  It is not our works that make faith work.  All of God’s amazing promises for us are released because of His love for us.  Romans 8:32 says, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”  God loved us so much that He gave His Son to pay off our sin debt that we could never pay.  If He did that for us when we were not in His family, how much more can we trust that He will protect us, provide for us, and respond in grace now that we are joint-heirs with Christ Jesus?  There is literally no limit to what God will do for us.  Faith is not mustering up enough belief.  It is trusting that He loves us enough to take care of us no matter what the situation looks like.  It is all about Jesus, and receiving everything from Him.

In Ephesians 3, Apostle Paul is praying that the church in Ephesus would get a glimpse of how much God loves them.  Paul says that if they could comprehend the breadth, length, depth and height of Christ’s love, that God would do exceeding abundantly beyond anything that they could think or ask.   Christ’s love for you is limitless; therefore what He desires to do through you is limitless.  You are a joint-heir.  What does abundance look like for you in your health, business or family?  Right now you can go the Father and thank Him for already providing your health, prosperity, protection and wholeness.  Because of His unlimited love for you, He will do exceeding abundantly beyond what you just asked for!  You don’t need to strive to increase your faith.  Faith is coming to Jesus and simply receiving everything you need from Him.  He loves you so much that you can be sure He will freely give you everything you need. Faith is all about Jesus finished work, and nothing about our works.  Praise God!
