Review:   How to Pray Powerful Prayers in the Miracle Working Name of Jesus | Pt. 3

Prayer in the New Covenant can be both petitioning, which means asking God for things, as well as making declarations in the name of Jesus.  In James 5:16-18, we are told that when we pray, our prayers are powerful and get results.   Verse seventeen explains that Elijah was a man with “like passions” as you and I.  This scripture should encourage every believer.  One minute Elijah was full of confidence and called down fire from heaven, and in the next minute he ran for his life when Jezebel threatened him.  In other words, Elijah wasn’t always operating in perfect faith, yet God heard his prayers and answered them.  In the New Covenant, God hears our prayers and He always answers them so that our joy may be full.

In addition, verse seventeen says Elijah “prayed earnestly that it would not rain.”  Earnest prayer is not struggling with long, intense prayers.  Earnest prayer is making declarations in the name of Jesus.  Believers need to understand that we are seated on God’s throne in Christ.  God has made us kings and priests because of Jesus’ work on the cross.  God has put all things under Christ’s feet, for the benefit of the church.  That means that lack, sickness, and every scheme of the enemy are under our feet.  We can decree things in Jesus’ name, and every symptom of the fall has to respond to our decrees.  This is not about conjuring up enough faith, this is understanding who we are in Christ.  We are seated on God’s throne far above everything that is against us.

This is the essence of operating in faith.  Operating in faith is simply believing in our heart and speaking with our mouth.  Romans 10:9 says,  “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  If the greatest blessing you could ever receive, forgiveness of sins and salvation, comes from believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth, how do you think the lesser blessings come about?  When simply need to believe in our heart and confess with our mouth.

Jesus demonstrated this to His disciples in Mark 11:23-24.  When we speak to mountains, or challenges in our lives, the mountains will dry up and disappear.  If you find it hard to speak God’s promises over your life, begin by cursing symptoms of man’s fall in your life.  You can speak to sickness and disease, and they will disappear.  You can curse lack and debt in your life and they will flee.  If you don’t see immediate results, don’t worry and lose heart.  Stay in prayer with an attitude of thanksgiving to God for this awesome privilege Jesus’ has granted every believer.  You will see that your words will not return void.  You will get results.  1 John 5:14-15 says, Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.   And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”   We don’t have to worry about God hearing us or not answering our prayer.  When we pray in the New Covenant, we receive so that our joy may be full.

Prayer:  10 Minutes:

If there is any situation in your life that needs prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you for that situation.  The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God.  It is the perfect prayer and is always answered!
