Review:  How to Pray Powerful Prayers in the Miracle Working Name of Jesus

Prayer in the New Covenant is very simple.  One of the most staggering promises for New Covenant believers is written in John 16:23-24.  Jesus states, “And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”  Notice that this verse does not say “if you have faith” or “if you believe.”  Jesus has given every believer the privilege of going straight to our loving Father and asking the Father directly for anything we need.  Our Father loves it when we ask and use this amazing privilege.  It not only brings glory to Jesus and our Father, it also fills every believer with great joy.

There is no reason to live a fruitless Christian life.  God is more eager to give than most believers are willing to ask.  If you need provision, ask and it is yours.  If you need healing, ask and it is yours.  When you ask God to protect you and keep you from evil, He always answers your prayer.  The resources of heaven are unlimited, and Jesus has challenged us to do unlimited asking.  We simply need to ask and we SHALL receive so that our joy may be full!  God is a loving Father and desires to give to His family.

In addition to petitions, or making requests to God, every believer has also been given the authority to use Jesus’ name to handle situations on earth.  Philippians 2:9-10 states, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.”  There is no force, might or authority in heaven, earth or hell that can resist a prayer in Jesus’ name.  This is not about having enough faith; this is simply using the authority and power that God has given the church through Jesus.  When you command sickness to leave in the name of Jesus, sickness bows.  When you command people to be healed in Jesus’ name, their bodies will respond.  Lack, sickness and demonic activity bow at the omnipotent authority and power that Jesus’ name carries.  We are children of the Most High God!  We are heirs of salvation.   When we use the name of Jesus to take authority over situations on earth, all of the resources of heaven back us up.

John 14:13 says, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”  What an amazing promise.  We do the asking, and Jesus does the doing.  This is prayer simplified in the New Covenant.  Praise God!
