Review:  Is God punishing me for my sins?

God is not punishing you for your sins and is not angry with you.  If people still think God is angry and punishing them, they can never have assurance that Jesus will heal them, protect them and save them from trials in life.

God is not angry and punishing you for your sins because all of God’s judgment and punishment that we deserved were placed on Jesus.  Hebrews 10:14 explains that the offering of Jesus as our sacrificial lamb has perfected believers forever.  Verse 17 explains that under the New Covenant, God will no longer remember our sins and iniquities.  Under the Old Covenant, the blood of bulls and goats covered man’s sins, but had to be offered over and over.   The blood of Jesus completely removed our sins that separated us from God.  God is a just and righteous God.  Since Jesus was punished for our sins, He would never punish us.  That would be double jeopardy.  Hebrews 10:22 tells us we can always go to God and have full assurance of faith and be free from a guilty conscience because of Jesus blood.  God no longer sees your sin.   Jesus blood assures us that God will always be on our side, in every trial and situation.  There is nothing that will ever again separate us from God’s blessings, favor and protection.

Isaiah 53 talks about Jesus as our suffering Messiah.   In the next chapter, Isaiah 54:9-10 explain that every time we see a rainbow, we can be sure that God will never be angry with us or rebuke us.  Instead, His covenant of kindness and peace will never be removed.

Some will argue that assuring people that God will never punish them for their sins gives them a “license to sin.”  But Jesus tells us that when people know how much they have been forgiven they fall in love with God.  1 Corinthians 15:56 makes it clear that the law actually strengthens the dominance of sin in our lives.  On the other hand Romans 6:14 says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”  When people know that God is no longer angry with them, sin actually loses its power in their lives.  Instead of giving believers a license to sin, grace actually frees people from the bondage and control of sin.  Grace frees you because grace is Jesus Himself.  When we know Jesus, we know the truth, and the truth has set us free from the law of sin and death.

Prayer:  10 Minutes:

If there is any situation in your life that needs prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you for that situation.  The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God.  It is the perfect prayer and is always answered!
