Review:  Jesus – Our Rest and Jubilee Part 2

Hebrews 10 explains the Old Testament contained shadows of the good things to come.  Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith in Christ is the real thing.  Jesus is the substance, or title deed, of all of the Old Testament shadows.  So we can look at the shadows in the Old Testament to understand what Jesus has done for us today.

In the Old Testament, every 7th day was a day of rest.  Every 7th year, and every 50th year were years of rest.  On those days and years, man could do no work.  When man would rest in God, God would work and continue to bless man outside of his own effort.  Every 50th year was a year of jubilee.  Every person’s debts were cleared, people were freed from slavery, and every person was given back any part of their inheritance they lost.  With Jesus, every day is a day of rest and every day and year is a year of jubilee.  When Jesus cried out “It is finished,” He was proclaiming jubilee and rest for us.  Not only was our sin debt completely wiped away, we can expect Him to wipe out our financial debts and lack.  If the blood of bulls and goats could eliminate poverty and lack in the Old Testament, Jesus’ blood is certainly just as powerful!  Most Christians do not believe this, simply because it is not taught.

Hebrews 4 explains that the nation of Israel did not enter the Promised Land, or rest, simply because of unbelief.  God had promised them a land flowing with milk and honey, but they did not believe it.  It is the same way today.  Many people are not enjoying what Jesus did for them on the cross simply because they don’t believe.  Jesus paid the full price for our redemption.  Everything we will ever need was completed on the cross.  Jesus finished everything!  Everything that Adam lost was restored through Jesus.  Ephesians 1 explains that God raised Jesus from the dead and made him sit at His right hand.  And we have been raised up with Jesus and made to sit with Him.  We have been made to sit!  That is a position of resting.  That is believing that everything we will ever need in this life has been provided for.

How were you saved?  Did you struggle, fast, obey God’s commands or warfare for it?  No, we simply believed the gospel of Christ Jesus.  That is faith.  It is not a level of faith, or striving for more faith.  You simply believed the message.  The same way you were saved, is the same way we can live our life.  God tells us we go from “faith to faith.”  If you need anything in your life right now, you can be confident that Jesus has already finished everything you will every need.  When you rest, God will go to work on your behalf.  God wants you to know there is a divine flow of supernatural provision when you simply trust in Jesus’ work and not your own struggling and works.  You can simply go to the Father and say, “Father, I believe my protection, health, provision and restoration have already been given to me.  I don’t need to stress about this situation any more.  I am going to rest in Jesus’ finished work!”

Prayer:  10 Minutes:

If there is any situation in your life that needs prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you for that situation.  The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God.  It is the perfect prayer and is always answered!
