Review:  Making Faith Simple – Part 2

Faith is not supposed to be a barrier between our loving Father and us.  Once God gives us a promise, it is not our job to muster up enough faith.  It is to rest in His promise that He is faithful to His covenant, not our level of faith.  All that we need is a mustard seed of faith to come to Jesus and trust in His faithfulness.  Our faith may waiver, but His faith is constant.  When we look at scripture, everyone that came to Jesus received.  Not everyone’s faith was perfect, yet they received.  They trusted in Jesus’ faithfulness and were not looking at their own faith.

The more we try to build our faith, the more faith will seem to allude us.  The more we look at Jesus, and trust in His goodness, faith will effortlessly be produced in our lives.  Galatians 5:22 clearly says that faith is a fruit.  We don’t work for faith, we simply believe that Jesus has qualified us for every blessing, and the fruit of faith will be produced in us.

Mark 9:23-24 says, “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.  And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.”  Most of us have read that scripture and thought if we can just muster up enough faith, someday I will be healed, someday I will prosper, someday I will get my breakthrough.  Yet in the original Greek text, the word “believe” is not there.  Jesus was actually saying, “What do you mean if I can?”  Jesus was saying, “Of course I can.  I am the believing one and I can do all things.”  The father clearly was going back and forth between believing and unbelief.  Yet the father received what he came to Jesus for.  Praise God that Jesus is faithful and doesn’t hold our periods of unbelief against us.

Faith is simply coming to Jesus and believing that He has qualified you for every blessing.  God does not hold our periods of belief and unbelief against us.  God keeps no record of sin after the cross because Jesus’ blood has been shed.  Don’t try producing your own faith.  Simply take your mustard seed of faith and place your trust in Jesus and your loving Father.  God calls that faith, and doesn’t look at your doubts and unbelief.

Abraham’s faith was not perfect.  The prodigal son’s faith was not perfect.  The man who waivered between belief and unbelief was not perfect.  Jesus never changes.  Therefore, your faith doesn’t need to be perfect either.  The only faith you need is to come to your Father and let Him provide whatever you need. Hebrews 11:11 says, “Judge Him faithful who has promised.”
