Review:  The Blessings Chase Us – We Don’t Chase The Blessings – Part 2

A good way to determine if you have entered into God’s rest is whether or not you are trusting in the work of Jesus to be blessed, or your own effort to be blessed.  The Old Covenant of the Law was dependent on the work of man.  When God gave Moses The Law in Exodus 20, it was dependent on man’s ability to obey.  It was a breakable covenant because man was involved.  The New Covenant of Grace is unbreakable because the covenant is between Jesus and the Father on man’s behalf.  In other words, the New Covenant is all about the work of Jesus.

Hebrews 10:9-18 explains the sacrifice of Jesus has perfected man forever.  Jesus was the lamb that took away the sin of the entire world.  Now, there is nothing that will ever separate us from our Father and the blessings of God.  The books of Romans and Galatians explain that our inheritance is by faith in Jesus, not by our ability to follow The Law.  Romans 4:13 says, “For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.”  Galatians 3 tells us the same thing.  We aren’t heirs because of our ability to follow The Law.  Just like Abraham, our part is to simply believe in Jesus.   Galatians 3:26,29 tell us,  “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.”

The New Covenant of grace is all about the work of Jesus.  We no longer have to work and strive to be blessed.   We are blessed!  We have an unbreakable covenant of blessing.  We are coheirs with Christ.   God has promised to bless us, provide for us, and protect us.  We are in Christ.  When God looks at us, He sees Jesus.  So we no longer have to depend on our ability to obey the Old Covenant of The Law.  We get to rest in the work of Jesus Christ.  In the New Covenant of grace, we get to enjoy wealth, protection and blessings we don’t deserve and could never earn.   This is the incredible gospel of Jesus Christ.  We don’t have to chase the blessings.   God has commanded the blessings to chase us.  Praise God!
