Review:  The Blood Covenant – God’s Unbreakable Covenant of Grace

God is a covenant keeping God.  Covenants can never be broken, except by death.  When you enter into a covenant with someone, you promise to give your life, love, protection and resources till death do you part.  The whole Bible points to God cutting a covenant with Jesus as man’s covenant representative.  Since the covenant is between God and Jesus, we can be sure that it can never be broken.

In Genesis 15:4 God reveals the story of Jesus in the stars.  Abram believed that God would send His son who would die for all mankind to pay for our sins.  Since Abram believed God, God accounted it to him for righteousness.  In Genesis 15:1 God promises Abram “God will be His shield and exceedingly great reward.”  God also told Abram he would inherit all the land that Abram could see.  This caused Abram to ask God how he could be sure of the things God was saying.

God immediately told Abram to prepare the animals for the covenant ceremony.  In Genesis 15:11 Abram was trying to drive the vultures away from the animals.  But God could not allow man to be involved in any way.  God caused Abram to fall into a deep sleep.  God came down in the cloud, and Jesus, the “burning torch” passed through the animal pieces on man’s behalf.  God truly became Abram’s shield and exceeding great reward.  God protected Abram and blessed him in every situation.  Abram didn’t earn the blessing by being obedient.  It was an unbreakable covenant of grace.

Today, when we believe Jesus was our substitute sacrifice, we receive the righteousness of Christ.  All of God’s judgment that we deserved was placed on Jesus.  God becomes our shield, our provider, our abundance, our everything! The New Covenant is an unbreakable covenant of grace.  God is eager to bless you.  As long as the sun comes up in the morning, God’s covenant is in place.  He is out to protect you and bless you! Romans 5:17 tells us that we will be victorious in life when we receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.

Prayer 1:  10 Minutes:

If there is any situation in your life that needs prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you for that situation.  The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God.  It is the perfect prayer and is always answered!
