Review:  The Letter Kills but The Spirit Gives Life

2 Corinthians 3:6 says, “who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”  The letter is the Old Covenant of the Law, and the Spirit is the New Covenant of righteousness by faith.  Three verses later, Paul calls “the letter“ the ministry of condemnation.

It is interesting that scripture says being under the Law causes death and condemnation.  The reason the church has been full of poverty, sickness, strife, etc. is because the church has been sin conscious.  Telling people to follow the law brings condemnation and literally causes their relationships, businesses, etc., to decline and die.  It also causes sickness and diseases in our physical bodies.  1 Cor 15:56 says, “the strength of sin is the law.”  The more we tell people to follow the law, the worse sin gets, and the more people feel condemned and unworthy to receive God’s best.

Sin does not stop the grace of God from flowing in our lives.  Instead, sin consciousness is what condemns us and hinders the flow of God’s grace.   God does not want us to be sin conscious and think that our ability to follow the law is what qualifies us for the blessings of God.  It is not about our works, but by faith in His grace.

We are supposed to be ministers of New Covenant, which gives life!  The New Covenant is righteousness by faith.  Under the New Covenant, we are worthy to receive all of God’s blessings because of Jesus.  The more we hear that we are righteous by faith, the more of Jesus’ life naturally flows through us.  We will experience the zoe life of Christ Jesus.   Righteousness by faith naturally brings health, prosperity, success and victory.

Prayer:  10 Minutes:

If there is any situation in your life that needs prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you for that situation.  The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God.  It is the perfect prayer and is always answered!
