Review:  Why More People Aren’t Enjoying the Blessings of Deuteronomy 28

The blessings listed in this chapter are awesome.  Unfortunately a lot of believes seem to live under the curses.  Sometimes the non-believers appear more blessed than Christians.  How can this be?

The problem is that many Christians have not heard the true gospel.  They believe obeying God and living a “good life” will bless them.   Most Christians are trying to “earn” their blessing.  Galatians 3:10 says, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.”  If you are “trying to obey” in order to be blessed, you have to completely obey God in all things written in the law.  If you miss one thing, you come under the curse.

Most Christians still think their blessings are dependent on their behavior.  Therefore, they never feel worthy to be blessed.  In their effort to please God, they actually come back under the curse and never experience all of the blessings Jesus purchased for them on the cross.  God does not desire for us to live this way.  He desires for us to live by faith, which means we are made right with God because of Jesus.  Galatians 3:9 says, “So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.”

Abraham was not blessed because he was perfect.  He was not blessed by obeying The Law.  Abraham was blessed because he believed the gospel message.  In the same way, when we believe we are made right with God because of Jesus, nothing more nothing less, we are blessed like Abraham.  The word “blessed” in Galatians 3:9 is in the passive tense.  This means that the “blessing” is happening to us.  We are not struggling to make it happen.  God is actually causing the blessing and favor of God to manifest in our lives unconsciously.

Don’t base the blessings of God on your ability to obey the Ten Commandments.  You don’t have to earn the blessings of God, your righteousness and blessings are a free gift!  God has promised that all of the blessings are yes and amen because of Jesus.  He has promised to bless whatever you put your hand to.  Believe that Jesus is all you need to be right with God, and the supernatural favor and blessings of God will flow freely in you life.

Prayer:  10 Minutes:

If there is any situation in your life that needs prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you for that situation.  The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God.  It is the perfect prayer and is always answered!
