Review:  You Are Complete in Christ

Colossians 2:8-10 says, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.  And ye are complete in him…”

Jesus possessed all of the fullness of God, and we are now in Him and He is in us.  We are complete in Him.  There is nothing lacking.  The minute you were born again, you received all of the blessings, favor and righteousness of God.  Paul was warning against religious teaching that says you need to fulfill religious requirements in order to receive the fullness of God.  This kind of teaching can “spoil” you.  The Greek translation of spoil here means to strip you of all of the wonderful treasures and gifts that you possess.   Paul makes it clear that you are complete in Christ.  Our part in the New Covenant is simply to believe this powerful truth.

The enemy wants us to believe we have to earn or achieve “completeness” in Christ.  Romans 5:17 tells us, “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”   Righteousness and grace are gifts from God.  Since you didn’t earn the gifts of God, there is nothing you can do to lose the gifts.  The key to reigning in life is knowing that you are always righteous in Christ, and you can always expect an abundance of favor.  There is nothing you can do to lose your righteousness or favor.  This assurance allows you to reign in life. When you reign, sickness, lack, poverty and failure will not reign.

You may not always feel like you deserve to be blessed.  You may not always feel righteous, especially if you are struggling with sin or bad habits.  This is the best time to remind yourself that God’s favor and righteousness are gifts.  God’s grace will eventually allow you to reign over every obstacle, sin and bad habit.  Don’t let the enemy or anyone else tell you that you have to earn the gifts of God.  You are complete in Christ and through Him you will reign in life.

Prayer:  10 Minutes:

If there is any situation in your life that needs prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you for that situation.  The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God.  It is the perfect prayer and is always answered!
