Review:  Health and Prosperity God’s Way

In Matthew 13 Jesus tells the people God will reveal the “mysteries of the kingdom of heaven” if they have “ears to hear.”  Matthew 13:23 tells us if we are willing to hear and understand the words of God, it will bear fruit and produce a hundred, sixty or thirty fold return.  But if people hear the word and are not willing to listen and understand, the word will not profit them.

There has been a lot of confusion about health and prosperity God’s way.  In this lesson we are going to reveal kingdom mysteries so you can enjoy divine health and provision.  Hebrews 5:10-11 tells us that there are many mysteries to Melchizedek, but the people were dull of hearing.  Melchizedek is the priesthood of Jesus.  Hebrews 7:21 says, “The Lord swore and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”  God is saying that Melchisedec’s priesthood never changes and it will last forever.

So lets look at Melchisedec’s priesthood in Genesis 14.   Since His priesthood never changes, whatever He did for Abram then, He will do for you today.  Melchisedec, which means King of Righteousness, is also the king of Salem, or the king of shalom.  He is the King, which gives us righteousness and makes us whole.  He brought Abram bread and wine.  That is the Holy Communion.  He still brings us the communion today.  Jesus body was broken so we can enjoy divine health.  His blood was shed so we have the forgiveness of sins.  This is God’s way for divine health.

In verse 19, Melchizedek blessed Abram.  Melchizedek’s priesthood only blesses.  In verse 20, Abram gave Him tithes of all.  Abram understood the concept of the tithe, or firstfruit.  He was not under the Law to give a tithe.  The Law came hundreds of years later.  Abram voluntarily gave the tithe to honor the Lord. In Genesis 15, Melchisedec promised to protect Abram and be an exceeding great reward for Abram.

Which brings us to today.  Jesus, or Melchisedec’s priesthood never changes.  We celebrate communion to proclaim the Lord’s death.  We can choose whether or not to honor His greatness with our tithes, or firstfruits.  Hebrews 7:8 says, “Here mortal men receive tithes, but there He receives them, of whom it is witnessed that He lives.”  Jesus is presently, actively receiving the tithes of men.  When you tithe, or honor Him with your firstfruits, you will have divine protection and abundance just like Abram.  It will be a testimony that Jesus lives.  This is God’s way to prosperity.

Lastly, the Hebrew word for tithe “ma-aser” (Strong’s- 4643) literally means the might to accumulate wealth. That is why Solomon, the richest man in history, tells us in Proverbs 3:9-10 that if we honor the Lord with our firstfruits, we will have overflowing abundance.  Our barns will be filled with plenty.  Praise God!
