Review: The Anointing of the Holy Spirit

Isaiah 10:27 says, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burdens shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” Isaiah was prophesying that burdens will be removed and yokes will be destroyed when the anointing comes. Christ means the anointing and the anointed one. When Jesus came, he told everyone the anointing has come. Luke 4:18,21 says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” This is fantastic news. The anointing is God’s ability flowing through humans by the Holy Spirit. When God’s ability comes, your burden and yokes are naturally removed. Things that were difficult become easy. All obstacles or yokes that try to hold down your destiny dissolve in God’s presence. Praise God! The Holy Spirit is named the Comforter. The Holy Spirit’s primary mission is to bring comfort to God’s people. We are going to look at four ways the Holy Spirit comforts us.

1. He is the Oil of Joy. Isaiah 61:3 says we have been given “the oil of joy for mourning.” The Holy Spirit injects joy and gladness into believers. Joy is God’s prescription for a healthy body. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” The joy of the Lord is our strength. When a believer stops worrying and allows the oil of joy to flow, it provides immunity against all plagues and diseases. It is more comfortable to be healthy than sick.

2. He is also the Love of God. Romans 5:5 says, “The love of God is shed abroad in your hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Everything in God’s Kingdom operates by love. All of the law and the prophets hang on love. Faith and scripture does not produce without the love of God. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to inject love into the hearts of men so all scripture begins to work for us. Matthew 6:33 tells us when we seek God’s kingdom first, everything else that unbelievers are toiling for will be added to us. When things are added to you, that is the ultimate in comfort.

3. The anointing also brings the High Praises of God. The Holy Spirit gives us the ability to move beyond singing, and we begin to glorify God. When we move into high praises and truly glorify God, God’s presence guarantees victory in every situation in life. Psalms 22:3 says, “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” You no longer need to fight and struggle.  Allow the Holy Spirit to flow as you praise God, and the presence of God is more than enough to make all darkness flee.

4. The Holy Spirit also brings favor to God’s people. Songs of Solomon 1:3 says, “Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth.” When you have the fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit, everything smells good around you. People are attracted to you. When Samuel anointed Saul, 1 Samuel 10:4 says, “And they will salute the, and give thee two loaves of bread.”  The anointing changed Saul. People began to salute him and honor him. People wanted to bring him gifts because of the fresh anointing. That is simply favor.  If you are not being favored and people are not honoring you, you need fresh oil. The anointing will turn every situation around and bring you supernatural favor with men! Praise God!  Yesterday’s oil is not good for today. We need to seek The Father daily and ask for fresh oil. When the Father releases fresh oil, you will experience higher levels of joy, love, praise and favour.

Prayer 1: 3 Minutes

We are going to ask God for a fresh release of the Holy Spirit. Zechariah 10:1 says, “Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds and give them showers of rain.” When the rain comes, everyone will experience the ministry of the Comforter. Fresh oil will bring unprecedented levels of joy, love, praise and favor. Burdens will be removed and yokes will be destroyed!

Prayer 2: 3 Minutes:

We will be praying for a harvest of souls this week.

Ask the Lord of the Harvest to whistle to all his sheep in Lagos, Oakland, Colorado Springs, and every fellowship around the country. Ask the Holy Spirit to drive them into church and into every fellowship with His irresistible wind. We will also be praying for the Holy Spirit to convict them of their sins, so they will be saved, and Christ will be formed and complete in all of the people present.

Prayer 3: 3 minutes

We are going to thank God for all past signs and wonders, and that signs and wonders will erupt this week in all of the services and fellowships. Pray for miracles that will gather unbelieving crowds into church.

Prayer 4: 3 Minutes

We are going to thank God for His servant, Bishop Oyedepo, and everyone who serves in the body of Christ. Pray that the Word of God will flow freely and be glorified in every service and fellowship. Pray that all the ministers will speak with flames of fire.

Offering: 5 minutes (Share one scripture and then take the offering.)
