Review:  The Father’s Love Guarantees Our Inheritance

The Old Covenant of The Law was based on man’s ability to obey.  The New Covenant of grace is based on faith in what Jesus has done for us.  2 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”  Our part in the New Covenant is to believe in what Jesus has done for us.  This is faith.  Galatians 5:6 tells us this faith works through love. Faith doesn’t work by “having enough faith” or “loving God enough.”  Faith works because of God’s unwavering and unbreakable love for us.

1 John 4:10,17 say, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” John makes it clear that love is defined as God’s love for us.  Because of Jesus perfect work on the cross, we have been made joint-heirs with Jesus.  “As he is, so are we in this world.”  We don’t have to wait for heaven; we are like Jesus right now in this world.  Jesus will never again be judged for man’s sin, so we sill never again be judged for our sins.  Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, enjoying the Father’s love, protection, favor and abundance.  So right now, you are seated with Jesus at the Father’s right hand.  You too have the Father’s unbreakable love, protection, favor and abundance.  If you need anything, all you need to do is ask the Father and He will freely give it to you because of His love for you.

Romans 5:8,10  also explain the Father’s love for us, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”

God loved us so much that when we were sinners, He sent Jesus to die for us.  Jesus’ death reconciled us to God.  This means every sin was taken away and we were restored to the favor of God.  If we received that much favor when we were sinners and not part of God’s family, how much more can we expect to receive the favor of God now that we are sons and part of God’s amazing family?  God’s love for you is immeasurable.  God demonstrates His love by giving to us.  God gave us Jesus when we didn’t ask for Him and could never deserve anything from Him.   Now that Jesus lives and we are joint-heirs, how much more will He freely give us every promise in scripture?   The Father’s love for us will never change; therefore this New Covenant of grace will never change.  Praise God!
