Review:  The Truth About “Spiritual Warfare” – The Battle for Your Heart and Mind – Part 2

Jesus stripped the enemy of all authority on earth.  Colossians 2:10-15 makes this clear.  When Paul talked about the armor of God in Ephesians 6, it was so we could stand in the truth against the “wiles” or tricks and deceit of the enemy.  The enemy has no authority left on earth, so he has to rely on deception.  The enemy’s main tactic is to get people to believe lies about themselves.  He will plant thoughts in people’s minds, and speak through people who do not know the truth.  When you accept those lies and begin to believe them, they become strongholds.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 makes it clear that the warfare is in the mind of believers. True spiritual warfare is breaking down wrong beliefs in people’s hearts and minds.  When people know the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, wrongs beliefs are replaced with correct beliefs.  The truth truly does set people free.

One stronghold that people have been concerned about for years is the idea of a “generational curse.”  Exodus 20:5 explains that generational curses were relevant in the Old Testament.  Jeremiah 31:29 says, “In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.”  In other words, there was a time that children could still taste the sour grapes that their ancestors tasted.   The children were being punished for the iniquities of their fathers.  But Jeremiah was prophesying that a New Covenant was coming.  Generational curses would no longer be relevant.

The last thing Jesus did on the cross was to taste vinegar.  Jesus tasted the sour grapes and freed us from all generational curses.  The minute you were born again, all things were made new.  You were perfected forever.  Under the New Covenant, our sins and iniquities will never again be remembered.  If our sins are never remembered, then our father’s sins certainly aren’t remembered.  You will never again be judged for your sins nor your ancestor’s sins when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Jesus Christ has freed you from all curses.  Don’t let the enemy trick you.  You have been made complete in Christ.  There is nothing you lack.  The more you hear and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, the more the power of God will touch every area of your life.

Prayer:  10 Minutes:

If there is any situation in your life that needs prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you for that situation.  The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God.  It is the perfect prayer and is always answered!
