Review:  The Enemy Has Been Defeated

The enemy has been defeated.  The enemy has no power, so he has to resort to wiles, or tricks and deceit.  True spiritual warfare is a battle for our minds.  Colossians 2:15 says, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”  Paul was using imagery of conquering kings during his day.   The conquering king would parade the defeated king though the streets for all of the people in the kingdom to see.  They would often cut the thumbs and big toes of the conquered king off.  This would demonstrate that the conquered king could never run again nor hold a sword to fight.  The people in the kingdom never had to worry about the conquered king again.  God wants us to know that the enemy has become completely powerless.

In Ephesians 1 and 2, Paul was praying for a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ.  Paul wanted them to realize the “exceeding greatness” of His power in us.  Verse 21 says we are far above every principality and power.  2 Cor 10:4-5 also explains that our weapons are mighty in God “for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Chris.”

In other words, the battle is in our minds.  The enemy tries to put thoughts in your head and trick you into believing you are not healed, prosperous nor blessed by God.  When those thoughts come, we need to remind ourselves that we are complete and righteous because of the obedience of Christ, not our obedience.  Our blessings are sure because they are gifts from God.   The enemy no longer has any power, so he puts lies and incorrect thoughts in our minds.    Simply resist him and command him to flee in Jesus name.  You will see that he will obey you because of the power of God dwelling in you.  Stop worrying about the enemy.  He is powerless.  Renew your mind to the truth and the blessings of God will flow out of your spirit and change everything around you.
