Review: What Does it Mean to Walk in the Spirit?
Galatians 5:16 and Romans 8:1 are great examples of the Bible telling us what “walking in the Spirit” means. It simply means that you live your life knowing that the Spirit of God is always with you and you are righteous because of your faith in Jesus. You are not trying to follow the law and obey. That is living your life in the flesh. Romans 8:8-9 says, “So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.” When you are born again, the Spirit of God dwells in you. You are in the Spirit. Living your life in the flesh is not pleasing to God. On the contrary, God loves it when we rely on the Holy Spirit to provide everything we need.
Living life in the flesh, or by your own efforts, is putting yourself back under the Old Covenant of the Law. The Law demands from man. It is a heavy burden to carry. The Law says, “you shall not, you shall do this, and if you obey then you will be blessed.” No one can live up to this standard but Jesus. Walking in the Spirit is knowing that the Holy Spirit is your Comforter. He is supplying everything you will need. The New Covenant says, “I will bless you, I will be merciful to your unrighteousness, and I will remember your sins no more.” God is supplying us with everything we will need in the New Covenant.
God is no longer demanding from you. Living your life knowing that God is always with you leads to a life of rest. Every day and in every situation we need to remember that God is always with us. The Holy Spirit will supply us with everything we could ever need. Galatians 3: 5 says, “Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?” Walking in the Spirit is confidently knowing your righteousness is a gift and God is supplying everything you will every need. No matter what situation you are in, remember that God’s presence will never leave you. His Spirit will supply everything you need. He will perform the miracle you need. If you need a financial miracle, He will supply it. If you need a miracle in your family, He will supply it. He is always working on your behalf. Live your life totally dependent on God and He will amaze you with His supply and miracles.
Prayer 1: 10 Minutes:
If there is any situation in your life that needs prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you for that situation. The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God. It is the perfect prayer and is always answered!
